
The Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip to Garner to compete in the annual Cardinal Relays at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School. The Eagles and Cowgirls were joined by the host Cardinals, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garriga, Central Springs, Clear Lake Classical, Forest City, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, North Butler, North Iowa, North Union, Northwood-Kensett, Rockford, West Fork and West Hancock.
Eagle Grove would place 4th with 68 points in Class A, as the Eagles lone winner was senior Addy Jeske in the long jump with a mark of 15′ 8.25″. Taytum Edwards would place 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 27.59, as Myka Anderson placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:17.63, while the 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:54.52 with the team of Jeske-Morgan-Lenning-Edwards. The 4×100 would place 3rd in a time of 54.09 with the team of Jeske-Morgan-Lenning-Edwards, before the 4×400 place 3rd in a time of 4:33.65 with the team of Hoop-Anderson-Lenning-Jeske.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would finish 6th with 65 points, as their lone winner was senior MaKayla Beisel in the high jump, clearing 5′ 2″. Beisel also placed 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 13′ 8.75″, as Elliott Ennis placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 30′ 8″. The Cowboys 4×800 placed 3rd in a time of 12:08.18 with the team of Perez-Hoesing-Bobadilla-Charlson, while the shuttle hurdle team placed 3rd in 1:22.97 with the team of Schaffer-Poac-Egland-Engstrom.
Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track return to action on Thursday, when the two squads compete at the Lynx Relays at Bob Buckley Track in Webster City, beginning at 4:30 PM.
