Webster City girls tennis falls at home to Boone, 8-1

The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team returned to action on Monday evening, as they hosted the Boone Toreadors in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered with a record of 4-3, while Boone entered at 7-2.

Monday’s matched started with a close one, as Allie Severe dropped her singles match 2-1 (0-6, 6-2, 4-10), before Olivia Gallentine fell in Position 2 by a 2-0 (6-0, 6-1) decision. Morgan Hackbarth would give Shannon Jenkins a battle, but would lose 2-1 (6-4, 1-6, 3-10), as Alivia Burns would win the only match of the meet for the Lynx with a 2-0 win over Juliana Lutz. Cyra Christensen and Gabbie Sebert were each swept 2-0 to go into doubles.

Boone would control throughout doubles, as Allie Severe and Alivia Burns would lose 2-0, while Olivia Gallentine and Morgan Hackbarth lost 2-1, before Cyra Christensen and Gabbie Sebert lost 2-0 to wrap up an 8-1 win for the Toreadors.

Webster City girls tennis returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at 4:30 PM.
