
The Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field teams returned to action on Monday, as they made the trek into Franklin County to compete at the Bulldog Invitational at Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School. The Norsemen and Cowboys were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Ankeny, Aplington-Parkersburg, Belmond-Klemme, Clear Lake, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Newman Catholic and South Hardin.
Roland-Story would place 4th in the meet with 89 points, as the Norsemen carried numerous 2nd place finishes. First was sophomore Fiston Carlson, who placed 2nd in the 100m dash in a season-best time of 11.74 seconds, as the distance medley followed by placing 2nd in a time of 3:58.60 with the team of Spainhower-Kilstofte-Miskell-Willis. Evan Voga would place 2nd in the 800m run in a time of 2:04.11, as Corbin Lucchesi would place 2nd in the 1600m run in a time of 4:58.52. The 4×100 would have the final 2nd place finish of the night, running a time of 45.54 with the team of Spainhower-Fosse-Crank-Thoreson. Cody Long would place 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 18′ 6.5″.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th with 38 points on Tuesday, as their top placer was sophomore Chaz Lane, who finished 4th in the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.79. Lane would also place 5th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 6″, while Huxley Lingenfelter placed 5th in the discus with a toss of 129′ 5″. CGD’s Shuttle Hurdle placed 4th in a time of 1:10.00 with the team of Lane-Rivera-Duncalf-Lindamann, while Tate Jackson placed 6th in the 3200m run in a time of 11:28.28.
Roland-Story boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Hawk Relays at South Hamilton High School at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Pocahontas to compete in the Pocahontas Area Boys Meet at 4:30 PM.
