(2A) #7 Webster City boys soccer routs Humboldt at home, 9-2

The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field at Webster City High School. Webster City entered Monday at 4-0 and ranked #7 in Class 2A, while Humboldt entered at 2-1-1.

The Lynx would open up action quickly as sophomore midfielder Aaron Mendoza scored in the 6th minute to put Webster City up 1-0. Webster City struck again with a 17th minute goal from Israel Torres and a 20th minute goal from Dany Morales to go up 3-0. Webster City would put up 3 more goals in the final 10 minutes before half as Eddy Fuentes scored in the 31st minute, with 2 goals in the 39th minute from Israel Torres and Fernando Rubi Antunez gave the Lynx a commanding 6-1 lead at the half.

Webster City continued their dominance in the 2nd half, as Eddy Fuentes recorded his 3rd hat trick of the year with goals in the 47th minute and 57th minute, while Israel Torres collected his first hat trick with a goal in the 58th minute to bring the final to a 9-2 win.

Israel Torres would have 3 assists in addition to his hat trick, while Eddy Fuentes and Fernando Rubi Antunez would have 2 assists each.

Webster City boys soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Charles City Comets in non-conference action at Lynx Field, beginning at 5:30 PM.
