
The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team returned to action on Friday morning, as they made the trip to Marion County to take on the Pella Dutch and Dike-New Hartford Wolverines in non-conference action at Caldwell Park in Pella.
The Lynx opened their day with a 9-0 loss to the defending 1A State Champions, as Allie Severe lost in Position 1, 2-0 (6-0, 6-1), while Morgan Hackbarth also lost in Position 2, 2-0 (6-1, 6-0). Alivia Burns managed to avoid shutouts in her sets, but would fall 2-0 (6-1,6-3), while Cyra Christensen would lose 2-0 (6-2, 6-2). Gabbie Sebert would fall 2-0 (6-1, 6-0), as well as Perla Torres (6-0, 6-0) to send the match to doubles.
Pella would continue their dominance in doubles as the team of Alivia Burns and Allie Severe lost 2-0 (6-3, 6-0), while Morgan Hackbarth and Gabbie Sebert lost 2-0 (6-0, 6-0). Cyra Christensen and Perla Torres rounded out the match with a 2-0 defeat (6-0, 6-1) as Pella won 9-0.
Dike-New Hartford would also put the pressure on Webster City with 2-0 wins in the first 4 positions, before Gabbie Sebert put up a big battle in position 5, but would ultimately lose 2-1 (4-6, 6-4, 3-10), as the Wolverines went to doubles up 6-0. Dike-New Hartford would then sweep the doubles for a 9-0 meet win.
Webster City girls tennis returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the Boone Toreadors at Webster City High School at 4:15 PM.
