Webster City, Roland-Story boys track compete in Saydel Boys Invitational

The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen boys track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip down to Des Moines to compete in the Saydel Boys Invitational at Saydel High School. The Lynx and Norsemen were joined by the host Eagles, as well as Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Des Moines Christian, Des Moines East, Des Moines Roosevelt, Gilbert, Madrid, Nevada, Newton, North Polk, Oskaloosa and Pleasantville.

Roland-Story placed 6th with 59 points, as they grabbed a handful of 2nd place finishes, first coming in the sprint medley in a time of 1:36.66 with the team of Carlson-Spainhower-Crabbs-McIlrath, followe by Corbin Lucchesi placing 2nd in the 3200m run in a time of 10:15.30. The Norsemen shuttle hurdle team would place 2nd in a time of 1:01.25 with the team of Berggren-Long-Barber-Strum, before Jayden Strum placed 2nd in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.37. Roland-Story placed 3rd in the distance medley in a time of 3:57.15 with the team of Miksell, Thoreson-Lucchesi-Voga, while the 4×200 placed 4th in a time of 1:31.15 with the team of Carlson-Crabbs-Fosse-McIlrath.

Webster City placed 7th with 50 points, coming away with one event winner in Jayden Weinzetl in the 200m dash, with a season-best time of 23.06, while finishing 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 11.44. Justin Callahan would place 2nd in the 400m dash in a time of 52.19, while also placing 2nd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.53. The Lynx’s sprint medley placed 3rd in a time of 1:39.26 with the team of Hansen-Hrnicek-Weinzetl-Callahan, while Cole Nohrenberg placed 4th in the discus with a personal-best throw of 135′ 8″. Daniel Murillo would place 4th in the 800m run in a time of 2:07.73.

Webster City boys track returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the Lynx Relays at Bob Buckley Track at Webster City High School at 4:30 PM. Roland-Story boys track returns to action on Monday when they travel to Hampton-Dumont-CAL for a boys meet at 4:30 PM.
