
The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles boys track teams returned to action on Friday evening, as they made the trip west to compete in the Charlie Bunn Relays at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by the host Wildcats, as well as Algona, Boone, Clear Lake and Emmetsburg.
Webster City would place 4th in the meet with 74 points, coming away with a pair of winners as Jaxon Griffith won the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.51, while Justin Callahan won the 400m dash in a time of 51.98. Callahan would also place 2nd in the 1600m run in a time of 5:03.17. Jayden Weinzetl would place 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 11.29, while also placing 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 23.22. The Lynx would place 2nd in the sprint medley in a time of 1:37.08 with the team of Griffith-Hrnicek-Weinzetl-Callahan, setting a new school-record, while Jack Barner placed 2nd in the 3200m run in a time of 11:19.25. Webster City would place 3rd in the 4×100 in a time of 45.64 with the team of Hrnicek-Griffith-Punkham-Weinzetl, while Cole Nohrenberg placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 130′ 6″.
Eagle Grove would place 5th with 35 points, as their top placer was the 4×400 relay, finishing 3rd in a time of 3:50.94 with the team of Spencer-Waldo Martinez-A. Castro-Z. Castro, as Syrus Willard tied for 3rd in the high jump by clearing 5′ 8″. Leelan Spencer would place 4th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.78, while also placing 4th in a time of 23.91. The Eagles 4×800 would place 4th in a time of 9:22.18 with the team of Waldo Martinez-A. Castro-Terwilliger-Vasquez, while Felix Reyes placed 4th in the 3200m run in a time of 11:36.67.
Webster City boys track returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Gowrie to compete in the Southeast Valley Invitational at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove boys track returns to action on Monday, when they compete at the Dodger Relays at Dodger Stadium in Fort Dodge.
