Roland-Story athletics announced Friday morning that they had hired North Polk assistant coach Craig Chapman as their new girls basketball coach for the 2025-26 season. Chapman replaces that outgoing Maddie Gelber as coach.
Chapman, a 2020 graduate of Treynor High School, started his career as an assistant under Bruce Dall at Dike-New Hartford, during which the time frame the Wolverines were in the midst of their 4 consecutive state championships. Chapman left Dike-New Hartford to be an assistant coach at North Polk in 2024-25, a season that saw the Comets reach the state finals in Class 4A.
Chapman follows in the footsteps of his father, Treynor girls basketball coach Joe Chapman, who has led the Cardinals program to great success since his hiring in 2017.
