South Hamilton and Roland-Story track teams compete in Gilbert Co-Ed Meet

The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the short trek south on Highway 69 to compete in the Gilbert Co-Ed Meet at Gilbert High School. The Hawks and Norsemen were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Ballard, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Perry, Saydel and South Hardin.

Roland-Story’s girls would place 2nd with 122 points on the evening, as they came away with numerous wins. Adalyn Sporleder would win the long jump with a mark of 15′ 11″, before the Norsemen won the sprint medley in a time of 1:53.09 with the team of Sporleder-Jondle-K. Petersen-Kam Lande. Roland-Story’s shuttle hurdle team would win in a time of 1:09.25 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer-Helgeson, as Selah Helgeson then won the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.11 seconds. Karsyn Lande would win the 800m run in a time of 2:33.78, before the Norsemen won the 4×100 in a time of 51.22 with the team of Sporleder-K. Petersen-Jondle-Kam Lande. Brookelyn Jondle would place 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.47, while the distance medley placed 2nd in 4:43.95 with the team of Reitano-Willis-Kam Lande-Johnson. The Norsemen 4×200 also placed 2nd in 1:48.36 with the team of Sporleder-K. Petersen-Rechkemmer-Kam Lande. Miley Geise placed 3rd in the shot put and discus with a shot put throw of 30′ 7″ and a discus throw of 88′ 5″, while the 4×800 placed 3rd in 11:19.63 with the quartet of Caughn-Larson-Ziegler-Truesdell.

South Hamilton’s girls would place 4th with 71 points and came away with a pair of winners out of field events. Tessa Skartvedt won the shot put with a toss of 35′ 1″, while Stella Martensen won the high jump by clearing 5′ even. Skartvedt would place 2nd in the discus with a best throw of 97′ 10″, while Isabel Swenson placed 3rd in the high jump by clearing 4′ 10″. The Hawks 4×400 placed 3rd in a time of 4:34.10 with the team of Beaune-Herrick-Chamness-Doolittle, while the distance medley also placed 3rd in a time of 4:50.91 with the team of Van De Pol-Scheller-Herrick-Beaune. Rosemary Chamness would place 4th in the 400m dash in a time of 1:07.06.

Roland-Story’s boys would place 4th with 73 points on Tuesday, coming away with a pair of winners on the day. Cody Long would win the long jump with a mark of 19′ 4.75″, while the Norsemen 4×200 won in a time of 1:33.74 with the team of Carlson-Thoreson-Fosse-Strum. Roland-Story’s sprint medley placed 2nd in 1:37.98 with the team of Berggren-Crabbs-Mazyck-McIlrath, while the 4×100 also placed 2nd in a time of 44.85 with the team of Berggren-Crabbs-Mazyck-McIlrath. Corben Lucchesi placed 3rd in the 1600m run in a time of 4:52.31, as Jayden Strum placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 59.67. The Norsemen shuttle hurdle team would also place 3rd in 1:03.15 with the team of Berggren-Long-Crank-Strum.

South Hamilton’s boys placed 5th with 46 points, coming away with just one win in the sprint medley in a time of 1:35.49 with the team of Severseike-Young-Twedt-Hodnefield. Nick Severseike would finish 2nd in the 400m dash in a time of 52.97 seconds, while Tanner Twedt placed 3rd in the 200m dash in a time of 23.76, while Braden Young was 4th in 23.92. The Hawks 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:36.22 with the team of Severseike-Twedt-Gelder-Young, while the 4×800 placed 4th in a time of 9:38.83 with the team of Zanker-Wirth-Gibbs-Garcia.

South Hamilton’s track and field teams return to action on Thursday, when they host the South Hamilton Co-Ed at Bill Taylor Field beginning at 4:30 PM. Roland-Story’s track and field teams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Nevada to compete in the Nevada Co-Ed at 4:30 PM.
