Eagle Grove boys track hosts Webster City, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and others in Umstead Relays

The Eagle Grove Eagles, Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track teams returned to action on Tuesday, as Eagle Grove hosted their Umstead Relays at Gene Hinrichsen Field at Eagle Grove Elementary School. Other schools in the meet included Algona, Belmond-Klemme, Central Springs, Forest City, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Lake Mills, Manson-Northwest Webster, Newman Catholic, St. Edmond and West Hancock.

Webster City would place 3rd with 99 team points on Tuesday, coming away with a handful of victories. The Lynx 4×800 won in a time of 8:52.88 with the team of Callahan-Mickelson-Murillo-Barner, before Jayden Weinzetl claimed a win in the 100m dash in a time of 11.44 seconds. Jaxon Griffith would win the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.94, as Jayden Weinzetl claimed the final win of the night in the 200m dash in a time of 23.05. The Lynx would get 2nd place finishes from Daniel Murillo in the 800m run in a time of 2:10.22, Justin Callahan in the 400m hurdles in a time of 59.17, and the 1600m run from Carter Mickelson in a time of 4:59.80. Third-place finishers for Webster City included the sprint medley in a time of 1:39.56 with the team of Weinzetl-Hrnicek-Griffith-Callahan, the shuttler hurdle in a time of 1:10.73 with the quartet of Hrnicek-Griffith-Stansfield-Christensen, Jack Barner in the 1600m run in a time of 5:01.56, and the 4×100 in 45.82 with the team of Hrnicek-Griffith-Punkham-Weinzetl.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th with 23 team points, as their top placer was sophomore Chaz Lane in the 110m high hurdles, who placed 3rd in a time of 16.89. Lane also placed 5th in the high jump, clearing 5′ 8″. Huxley Lingenfelter placed 5th in the discus with a best throw of 126′ 7″, while Tate Jackson was 5th in the 3200m run in a time of 11:32.75. The Cowboys shuttle hurdle relay team was 4th in a time of 1:10.82 with the team of Lane-Rivera-Duncalf-Lindaman.

Eagle Grove would place 7th with 17 team points, as their top individual placer was junior Syrus Willard, who placed 4th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 8″. The Eagles top placing relay was the 4×800, which finished 3rd in a time of 9:19.91 with the team of Z. Castro-A. Castro-Waldo Martinez-Reyes. Eagle Grove would place 4th in the distance medley in a time of 4:06.31 with the quartet of Spencer-Heaton-Miller-Z. Castro, as the Eagles 4×200 relay placed 5th in a time of 1:39.28 with the team of Thacker-Heaton-Nielsen-Spencer.

Webster City and Eagle Grove boys track return to action on Friday, when they compete at the Charlie Bunn Relays at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they host their home boys meet beginning at 4:30 PM.
