Roland-Story, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf opens season in Story City

The Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls golf teams opened their 2025 season on Monday, as they competed in a triangular with the West Marshall Trojans at River Bend Golf Course in Story City.

Roland-Story would come away as the meet champions, winning with a team score of 181. Junior Brinley Carlson was the individual champion, shooting a 37 (+1). Senior Brooke Thompson would shoot a 42 (+6), freshman Hadley Carlson would shoot a 49 (+13), while sophomore Jenna Birkland rounded out scoring with a 53 (+17).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would finish 3rd in the meet with a team score of 252. The top placer for the Cowgirls was sophomore Blaire Askelsen, who finished 9th with a score of 57 (+21). Senior Maddie Askvig would shoot a 61 (+25), junior Claire Kirstein would shoot a 66 (+30), while senior Jordyce Duncalf rounded out scoring with a 68 (+32).

Roland-Story girls golf returns to action on Thursday, when they travell to The Hill Golf Course in Jefferson for a 9-hole tournament hosted by Greene County. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf returns to action on Thursday, when they host Garner-Hayfield-Ventura at Oak Ridge Golf Course in Goldfield.
