
The Roland-Story Norsemen track and field teams returned to action on Friday, as they hosted their home co-ed early bird meet at Dallas Kray Track in Story City. The Norsemen were joined by Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, North Polk, PCM and Southeast Valley.
Roland-Story’s girls would finish 3rd with 89 points, and came away with a number of victories. Adalyn Sporleder opened the day by winning the long jump with a mark of 17′ 8″, before the Norsemen won the sprint medley in a time of 1:50.05 with the team of Sporleder-Jondle-K. Petersen-Kam Lande. Roland-Story would then win the shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 1:07.96 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer-Helgeson, as their time currently sits 8th in Iowa all classes. Freshman Taylor Rechkemmer would win the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.48 seconds, before Kam Lande won the 200m dash in a time of 26.24 for the final win of the evening for the Norsemen. Roland-Story would place 2nd in the 4×200 in a time of 1:46.97 with the team of Sporleder-K. Petersen-Jondle-Kam Lande, while Adalyn Sporleder placed 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 13.01. Junior Selah Helgeson would place 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.06.
The Norsemen boys would place 3rd with 75 points on the evening, also coming away with a number of wins. Corbin Lucchesi came away with a win in the 3200m run in a time of 10:22.06, before Heston McIlrath won the 400m dash in a time of 52.47. Jayden Strum would win the 100m high hurdles in a time of 15.21 to give the Norsemen their final win of the night. Roland-Story would place 2nd in the 4×100 in a time of 44.34 with the team of Berggren-Crabbs-Mazyck-McIlrath, as the shuttle hurdle team placed 3rd in a time of 1:04.34 with the team of Berggren-Long-Crank-Strum. Ben Mazyck would place 3rd in the 100m dash in a time of 11.57, as Cody Long placed 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 19′ 7.75″. Ryan Fosse placed 3rd in the 200m dash in a time of 24.70, Evan Voga was 3rd in the 3200m run in a time of 10:37.24, while the Norsemen 4×800 placed 3rd in a time of 9:21.06 with the team of Dahlsten-Willis-Johnson-Healy.
Roland-Story track and field returns to action on Tuesday, when they compete in the Gilbert Co-Ed, beginning at 4:30 PM.
