Iowa State Patrol investigate two area accidents over the weekend.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated two accidents in the area over the weekend with information released this (Monday) morning.

One of them occurred east of Webster City on U.S. Highway 20 and the Kamrar exit at Neely Avenue. The accident happened at 12:13 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Reportedly an eastbound 2011 model GMC Terrain  SUV operated by Reese Wahl of St. Ansgar, Iowa accidentally struck the rear end of a 2001 model Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Doreen Dykhuizen of Williams at the Kamrar exit of Highway 20. The report stated that Dykhuizen was driving at a slow rate of speed with her hazard flashers on because her vehicle shakes driving above 50 miles per hour.  Wahl stated her phone was on her lap charging and vibrated. She then looked down at her phone and when she looked up at the road, she saw the Dykhuizen vehicle in front of her. Both drivers escaped injury in Friday’s accident. Damage to the Dykhuizen SUV was estimated at $15,000 with the damage to the Wahl SUV at $20,000. Investigating Iowa State Patrol trooper Emily Winkler cited Reese Wahl with Following Too Closely.

The second accident was investigated at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, March 28 at 310th Street and Fairbanks Avenue near Callender. Reportedly a 2021 model Buick Encore driven by Laurel Linquist of Fonda was traveling northbound on Fairbanks Avenue when it prepared to make a left turn on to 310th Street. Linquist apparently failed to yield to a 2014 model Ram pickup operated by Sara Allen of Farnhamville which was traveling southbound on Fairbanks Avenue. Both of the drivers suffered mild injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  Damage to the Linquist SUV was estimated at $8000 with the damage to the Allen pickup as totaled. Investigating Iowa State Patrol trooper Robert Karrick cited Laurel Linquist with Failure to Yield Upon a Left Turn.
