
The Webster City Lynx and the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they traveled to Cerro Gordo County to compete in the North Iowa Indoor Championships at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Central Springs, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Lake Mills, Nevada, Osage, Riceville, Saint Ansgar and Waverly-Shell Rock.
Webster City would finish 7th with 30 points on the day, as their top placer was sophomore Izzy Grossoehme in the 400m dash, placing 2nd in a time of 1:01.77. Grossoehme also placed 5th in the 200m dash in a time of 27.70, while Cloe Savitski placed 3rd in the 60m dash in a time of 8.16 seconds. The Lynx would go 5-6 in the shot put, as Amanda Lahr placed 5th with a throw of 34′ 10″, while Jakaela Cherry placed 6th with a throw of 34′ 2″. Webster City’s distance medley placed 7th in a time of 5:02.51 with the team of Savitski-Wright-Grossoehme-Reed, while the shuttle hurdle team placed 8th in a time of 49.73 with the team of VanDeer-Hartnett-Weinschenk-Haney.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 13th in the meet with 19.25 points, as their top placer was senior MaKayla Beisel in the high jump, placing 2nd by clearing 5′ 2″, only missing first as Algona’s Maya Lentz cleared 5′ 2″ in less attempts. Beisel would place 3rd in the 60m hurdles in a time of 10.05, while placing 6th in the long jump with a mark of 15′ 2.5″. Addy Howell placed 8th in the high jump by clearing 4′ 8″, while Beisel also placed 7th in the 400m dash in a time of 1:07.
Webster City girls track returns to action on April 7th, when they compete at the Richard Ryan Relays at Southeast Valley. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action on April 10th for the Lady Eagle Relays at Eagle Grove.
