
The Roland-Story Norsemen girls basketball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Van Meter Bulldogs in their Class 3A, Region 7 semifinal at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen entered at 21-2, while Van Meter entered at 12-10.
Roland-Story got off to a great start on the defensive end, limiting the Bulldogs to 6 points in the opening quarter to take a 16-6 lead. Van Meter answered early in the 2nd quarter, but Roland-Story used a late push to take a 31-16 halftime lead. The Norsemen wouldn’t look back from there as they came away with a 64-47 win.
Claire and Emma Truesdell led the Norsemen with 12 points each, while Alyssa Jones added 10 points.
Roland-Story returns to action on Saturday night, when they host Des Moines Christian for a berth in the state tournament at 7 PM at Roland-Story High School.
