Webster City School Board approves a Tax Increment Financing Resolution and construction set for this summer on the Career Ag Academy in WC

The Webster City Community School Board Monday night approved the Tax Increment Financing Resolution with the City of Webster City for the Wilson Estates housing complex to be located on Wall Street on the city’s southwest side.Webster City School superintendent Matt Berninghaus  said the benefits will mean an increase in potential students  and staff to the school district, improvements to infrastructure such as connection from Wall Street to Lynx Avenue, sewer  and water connections to the complex. Construction to 218 unit complexx will begin later this year with the completion in the fall of 2028. Webster City city manager John Harrenstein was in attendance at Monday’s meeting to go over the project  with the school board and to answer any questions to the board. Kading Properties of  Urbandale will be the firm responsible for the housing project. Kading owns and operates similar housing complexes in several central Iowa communities. The total cost for the construction of the 28 acre housing facility will be at $6,000,000.  The housing project should ease the concerns of housing that has been tight in recent years in Webster City.

Construction of the Career Ag Academy at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds is set to start this summer. Completion for the academy will be ready in time for the start of the 2025-26 school year. The work will be done by the Webster City High School Construction and Building students.  Visitors to the Hamilton County Fair in late July will preview the work by the students. Webster City Schools will operate the academy for a five year period once the construction is finished.

The Webster City school board approved a fund raising request for the High School Prom with a bake sale. A donation was received from Asbury United Methodist Church for $1,357 to the Webster City Schools was accepted by the board Monday night.
