Webster City basketball swept in road NCC doubleheader with Clear Lake

The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip north on I-35 to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx girls entered at 3-14, while the Lynx boys entered at 6-10.

Webster City’s girls looked to build off of their performance from Friday night and were neck and neck with the Lions early on, holding a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but Clear Lake would take a 19-17 halftime lead. The Lynx would grab a lead early in the 3rd quarter, but Clear Lake sprang to life with 21 3rd quarter points en route to a 55-31 win.

Webster City stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning, while Taylor Schwenn had 13 points to lead the Lions.

The Lynx boys followed with a daunting task of facing the top-ranked Lions as Clear Lake would jump ahead 24-8 after the first quarter, as the lead ballooned to 48-11 by halftime. Clear Lake kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd half to come away with a 75-33 win.

Webster City stats were not available as of Wednesday morning, while Thomas Meyer led Clear Lake with 15 points.

Webster City basketball returns to action on Friday night, when they travel to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action, beginning at 6:15 PM.
