South Hamilton basketball swept in home HOIAC doubleheader with PCM

The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton’s girls entered at 5-13, while South Hamilton’s boys entered at 0-18.

South Hamilton’s girls faced a daunting task of taking on conference co-leaders PCM, ranked #9 in Class 3A entering Tuesday. PCM got out to an early lead, up 16-9 after the first quarter, as the Mustangs offense continued to consistently perform as they led 34-13 at halftime and cruised to a 59-27 win.

The South Hamilton boys followed still in search of win #1 on the year, as PCM bolted out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter. The Hawks offense did fight back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but the margin would become to great as PCM settled on a 71-40 win.

South Hamilton basketball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Perry to take on the Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 6 PM.
