Eagle Grove basketball swept in TOIW road doubleheader with North Union

The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to far northern Iowa to take on the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at North Union High School in Armstrong. The Eagle girls entered at 1-17, while the Eagle boys entered at 7-11.

North Union’s girls would get off to a simmering start, leading 22-3 after the 1st quarter and pushed the lead to 41-11 at halftime. Eagle Grove’s offense would find some life in the 2nd half, but the Warriors were able to snatch a 64-25 win.

Ellie Lenning led Eagle Grove with 10 points, while Holly Anderson and Myka Anderson each had 5 points.

The boys game followed as Eagle Grove tried to avenge a 1-point home loss to the Warriors early in the year, but North Union held a slight 16-13 lead after the first quarter, managing to push the advantage to 35-28 at halftime. The Eagles managed to tie things up in the 3rd and bring it within a possession in the 4th, but North Union managed to hold on for a 60-55 win.
