The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip into Pocahontas County to compete in the annual Lynn Moody Invitational at Pocahontas Area High School. The Hawks were joined by the host Indians, as well as Alta-Aurelia, G-T/R-A, Sioux Central, West Bend-Mallard and Woodbury Central.
South Hamilton would place 6th on Saturday with 51 points. The Hawks top placer was junior Gaige Willis, who placed 2nd at 215 pounds, Willis would pin GTRA’s Kinnick Peton in the quarterfinal, and Woodbury Central’s Brody Hagemann in the semifinals before losing by pin to GTRA’s Cael Currans in the final.
Parker Stuck would place 4th at 190 pounds, going 1-2 on the day with a pinfall win in the consolation semifinals, before losing by fall in the 3rd place match to Alta-Aurelia’s Abraham Barajas. Hagen Klein also placed 4th at 113 pounds, going 0-2 on the day and losing the 3rd place match by fall to Bryce Gunderson of Sioux Central.
Holden Moore would finish 5th at 126 pounds, finishing the day with an 0-2 record, while Brody Harris would also finish 5th at 285 pounds, going 2-2 and winning by major decision over Alta-Aurelia’s Wilson Alpet in the 5th place match.
South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the Eagle Grove Duals at Eagle Grove Elementary School, beginning at 10 AM.
