Roland-Story basketball sweeps home HOIAC doubleheader with Greene County

The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they welcomed in the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen girls entered with a record of 15-2 and ranked #7 in 3A, while the Norsemen boys entered at 4-12.

Roland-Story’s girls would come out scorching, starting the game on a 34-0 to run en route to an 82-13 domination over Greene County. Claire Truesdell poured in a career-high 24 points, while Kate Berggren added 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Sara Morlan led Greene County with 5 points.

The boys game followed as Roland-Story looked to bounce back from a tight loss to Dike-New Hartford on Thursday night, as the Norsemen led 14-6 after the first and 24-17 at halftime. The 3rd quarter wound up being the backbreaker, with the Norsemen outscoring the Rams 15-2 in the frame to cruise to a 55-22 win.

Luke Thoreson led the Norsemen with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Cody Long and Eli Van Hove each had 7 points.

Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School, beginning at 6 PM.
