The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Panthers of Central Springs in non-conference action at Eagle Grove Elementary School for senior night. The Eagle Grove girls entered at 1-16, while the Eagle Grove boys entered at 6-11.
It would be a slow start for the Eagle girls on Friday, as Central Spring led 10-0 after the first quarter, a lead that ballooned to 31-7 at halftime. Central Springs would coast from there to a 48-16 win.
Taytum Edwards and Ellie Lenning led the way for the Eagles with 7 points each, while Kaci Crum had a game-high 21 points for Central Springs.
The Eagle Grove boys followed, looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s loss with a win, but Central Springs came out swinging, leading 16-15 after the first quarter. Eagle Grove would take a 32-30 lead at halftime, before things were tied up after three at 43-43. The Eagles took control in the 4th, outscoring the Panthers 19-8 in the final frame for a 62-51 win.
Jaxon Morris led the Eagles with 21 points, while Abraham Lin had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Braydin Crum led the Panthers with 18 points.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Armstrong to take on North Union in Top of Iowa West action at 6:15 PM.
