Roland-Story basketball splits home non-con doubleheader with Dike-New Hartford

The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Wolverines of Dike-New Hartford in non-conference action at Roland-Story High School in Story City. Roland-Story’s girls entered with a record of 15-2 and ranked #7 in Class 3A, while Roland-Story’s boys entered at 4-11.

Roland-Story’s girls would jump out to an early advantage on Thursday night, and managed to keep the Wolverines at arms length all night long to come away with a 47-33 win.

Alyssa Jones finished with a game-high 13 points, while Kam Lande added 11 points for the Norsemen.

The boys game followed with Roland-Story looking to build off their dominant Tuesday night win over South Hamilton, but the Norsemen trailed 14-12 after the first quarter, a lead that slightly grew to 26-21 at halftime. Roland-Story would answer back in the 3rd and 4th quarter, but couldn’t get over the hump in a 50-48 loss.

Luke Thoreson finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Norsemen, while Jake Berggren and Cody Long each had 8 points.

Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Friday night, as they host the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School at 6 PM.
