The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City’s girls entered at 2-13, while the Webster City boys entered at 4-10.
Webster City’s girls got off to a good start on Tuesday, leading 12-10 after the first, but IF-A would respond to hold a 25-24 advantage at halftime. The Lynx grabbed the lead back in the 3rd quarter at 40-36, and held off IF-A down the stretch for a 48-44 victory.
Olivia Gallentine led the Lynx with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, while Lovie Pruismann added 9 points.
The boys game followed as Webster City looked to bounce back from their loss to Humboldt on Friday, as the offense looked much more fluid, trailing just 16-14 after the first quarter, but IF-A would open up a 29-22 halftime lead. The Lynx then flipped the script and put together a massive 2nd half, including outscoring the Cadets 25-8 in the 4th quarter to come away with a 73-53 win.
All 5 Lynx starters scored in double figures on Tuesday, as Gavin Griffith led the way with 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Connor Peck had 15 points. Kale Kalous led the Cadets with 18 points.
