The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they renewed their longstanding rivalry in Heart of Iowa Conference play in Story City.
Roland-Story’s girls would jump out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter, but South Hamilton would battle back to cut the deficit to as little as 10 in the 2nd, and trailed by 11 at halftime. However, Roland-Story would explode in the 2nd half for 47 points, 36 in the 3rd quarter alone, to come away with a dominant 74-27 win.
The KQWC Player of the Game for the Norsemen was senior Claire Truesdell, who finished with 13 points, while Alyssa Jones had a game-high 17 points for Roland-Story. The KQWC Player of the Game for the Hawks was junior Izzy Swenson, who finished with a team-high 8 points.
Roland-Story’s boys looked to follow up with a dominant win of their own, as the Norsemen jumped ahead of the Hawks early by a score of 10-0 and never looked back in a 78-26 victory.
The KQWC Player of the Game for Roland-Story was junior Cody Long, who tied for a game-high 11 points with 4 assists. Luke Thoreson also had 11 for the Norsemen, while Jack Birkland added 10 points. The KQWC Player of the Game for South Hamilton was senior Grant Larson, who also tied for a game-high with 11 points.
