First meeting of 2025 for the Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees held Tuesday night.

At their Tuesday evening meeting , the Van Diest Medical Center Board of Directors elected their new board officers for 2025. Darcy Swon was named the board chair. David Everson as Vice Chair and Kyle Heffernan as Secretary. The Van Diest Medical Center Finance Committee will be made up of Kirk McCollough as Treasurer with Darcy Swon and Michelle Zahn as committee members. The Joint Conferece Committee will be made up of  Kirk McCollough, Kyle Heffernan and Doug Bailey. The Quality Assurance Team Members are David Everson and Carroll Ose.  Doug Bailey will be a Medical Staff Liaison.

The Nominating Committee of the Van Diest Medical Center Foundation  has placed the following state of officers into nomination  for election in 2025. Zach Chizek was named chairman of the foundation. Ashley Larson as vice chair and Julie Maass as secretary.

An open house for the Mercy One Iowa Heart Cardiology Clinic at Van Diest Medical Center will be held Wednesday, February 12. The hours for the event will be from 8:00 until 10:00 a.m. in the Specialty Services Waiting Area with the ribbon cutting set for 8:30.There will be a brief program with Dr. Denise Sorrentino of Iowa Heart  to share a few words. The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce will coordinate the ribbon cutting, and refreshments to be served,

Dr. Sydney Brehany, a new Medical Oncologist and Hematologist with Mission Cancer+Blood will join the Van Diest Medical Center of visiting specialists in late February. Dr. Brehany earned her Biochemistry degree from Wartburg College and completed medical school at Creighton University in Omaha. A native of Algona, Dr. Brehany  is excited to return to Iowa to practice, She specializes in breast in gynecological cancers as well as hereditary cancer syndromes. Dr. Brehany will be joining as a permanent visiting oncologist in February at Van Diest Medical Center. She will see patients in the specialty clinic on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays  of each month. with her initial start date yet to be determined. Dr. Robert Behrens will see patients at Van Diest Medical Center until she begins.

Van Diest Medical Center will welcome Jessica Kruckeberg as the newest health professional to join their physician/provider team at the Van Diest Familty Health Clinic in Webster City. Kruckenberg earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Allen College in 2015, then completed her Master of Science degree in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Clarkson College in 2019.. Kruckenberg will begin her full-time employment with the Family Clinic on Wednesday, February 5th. She will share office space with Dr. Nikki Ehn in the clinic.
