South Hamilton basketball swept in road HOIAC doubleheader with Grand View Christian

The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip south on I-35 to Des Moines to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Grand View Christian School. The Hawk girls entered at 5-9, while the Hawks boys entered at 0-14.

South Hamilton’s girls got out of the gates well, leading 11-9 after the first, and 25-17 at halftime. However, Grand View Christian mounted a 2nd half rally, as the Thunder took over in the 4th to come away with a 43-39 win.

Isabel Swenson led the Hawks with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while Allie Nueberger had 9 points for the Hawks. Maiah Murphy led Grand View Christian with 24 points, while Morgan Pelham had 21 rebounds for the Thunder.

The boys game followed as South Hamilton was still searching for win #1 on the season, but the task was daunting with the 3rd-ranked Thunder, as Grand View Christian raced out to a 43-6 halftime lead and cruised to a 69-23 win.

Grant Larson finished with a team-high 10 points for the Hawks, while Ben Swenson and King Brown finished with 3 points. William Seyer led Grand View Christian with 32 points and 10 three-pointers.
