
The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trek to far northern Iowa to compete in the Top of Iowa Championships at Saint Ansgar High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Saints, as well as Central Springs, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, Nashua-Plainfield, Newman Catholic, North Butler, North Union, Northwood-Kensett, Osage, West Fork and West Hancock.
Eagle Grove would place 11th with 73 points, as their top placer would be Dylan Terwilliger, who finished 3rd at 120 pounds, pinning West Hancock’s Briggs Muth in the 3rd place match. Hayden Schafer would place 5th at 157, winning by tech fall over Osage’s Ty Voigt in the 5th place match, while Jayden Kreitlow placed 5th at 175 with a pinfall win over North Union’s Max Merrill in the 5th place match.
Other placers for the Eagles saw Jesus Baez place 6th at 285, Hunter Waldo-Martinez placed 6th at 126, Ethan Schreiber place 7th at 106 and Andrew Orozco placed 8th at 113.
Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in non-conference action at Eagle Grove Elementary School at 6:30 PM.
