Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball comes up just short at (1A) #9 St. Edmond, 66-58

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys basketball team returned to action on Friday night, when they made the trip to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at St. Edmond School. The Cowboys entered with a record of 6-9.

St. Edmond would bolt out in front by a score of 21-12 after the first quarter, but the Cowboys slowed things down in the 2nd quarter to trail just 28-21 at halftime. CGD’s offense sprang to life in the 3rd quarter, putting up 23 in the frame to trail just 46-44 headed into the 4th, but it was St. Edmond that would pull away late for a 66-58 win.

Johnny Lomeli would lead the Cowboys with 19 points and 5 three-pointers, while Chaz Lane finished with 17 points. Hunter Horn led St. Edmond with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in North Central Conference action at 7 PM.
