
The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks wrestling teams returned to action on Friday night, as they competed in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Championships at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry, Saydel and West Marshall.
Roland-Story would claim 3 individual champions on Friday, as Caiden Latch captured the first title at 126, winning by 22-6 tech fall over West Marshall’s Jack Decker. Chance Georgius would win the next title at 190 pounds, defeating South Hamilton’s Parker Stuck by a 2-0 decision. Ogden-transfer Roman Stotts then captured the 215 pound title, winning a 16-0 tech fall over PCM’s Kaiden Valcore. Isaac Hall would place 2nd at 150, losing by 19-4 tech fall to West Marshall’s Shane Hanford in the final.
The Norsemen finished with a number of 3rd place finishers, with Konnor Blume at 106, Noah Healy at 113, Brady Long at 138, Graysun Lein at 144 and Colin Grunlingh at 175. 4th Place finishes came from Blake Loof (132) and Tyler Lambert (165), while getting 5th place finishes from Kael Ammerman (120), Kale Kadolph (157) and Jake Rogers (285). Roland-Story would finish 2nd in the tournament with 199 points.
South Hamilton would place 8th with 62 points, with their top finisher in Parker Stuck, who placed 2nd at 190, losing a 2-0 decision to Roland-Story’s Chance Georgius. Holden Moore would place 3rd at 126, winning by pinfall over Nevada’s Hunter Haley, while Hagen Klein placed 4th at 113, losing by fall to Noah Healy of Roland-Story in the 3rd place match. Other placers for the Hawks saw 5th place finishes from Kyler Ziesman (150) and Gaige Willis (215), with 6th place finishes from Jacob Lutjen (120), Trace Junker (157) and Brody Harris (285).
Roland-Story wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Iowa Falls for an quad dual with Iowa Falls-Alden, Ogden and Nevada beginning at 6 PM. South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete at the Lynn Moody Invitational at Pocahontas Area High School at 10 AM.
