Aggen named Webster City High School Principal

The Webster City Community School District has named Mr. Chris Aggen as the next High School
Principal, pending School Board approval.
For the past two (2) years, Aggen has served the Perry School District as an Associate Principal/Director of Learning
Supports. Prior to this role, he served the Baltic South Dakota School District as a Middle/High School Principal.
Aggen completed his principal licensure program at the University of Sioux Falls in 2014. Prior to earning his Master’s in
Educational Leadership, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Physical Education and 5-12 Health Education from
Southwest Minnesota State University in 2011.
The advertisement and selection process began in early November. Phone screenings narrowed the list of eleven (11)
applicants to three (3) finalists, who were invited to on-site interviews. Four (4) different stakeholder interview teams
consisting of Parents/Community Members, High School Staff, Administrators, and District Office Staff conducted
interviews with each of the three (3) finalists on Monday, January 20. High School students were also involved in the
process by providing building tours and offering feedback on the respective applicants.
“A thorough and thoughtful process was undertaken to find the right person to lead our High School,” said Superintendent
Matt Berninghaus. “By carefully reviewing feedback from the four interview committees, along with input gathered from
the stakeholder survey, there was consensus to appoint Mr. Aggen as the next principal of Webster City High School.”
Mr. Aggen provided the following statement: “I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to be the next Principal of
Webster City High School. I look forward to being part of the team at the High School while hitting the ground running
building relationships with students, staff, and families.”
Mr. Aggen is slated to begin his new position on July 1.
