One person killed in car train crash in Thursday accident in rural Hardin County.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated a car train accident late Thursday morning in Hardin County that claimed the life of the driver of the car. The accident happend at a railroad crossing on 290th Street between E and F Avenues. Reportedly the driver of an eastbound 2021 Toyota Prius was on 290th Street. The driver failed to yield to a northbound train at the railroad crossing. The front of the train made contact with the rear passenger side of the car. The driver of the car was taken by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The driver was pronounced dead on arrival. The name of the victim has not not been released. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
