The Hamilton County Conservation Board on Thursday morning announced plans to submit a State Recreational Trails Funding agreement to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for approval. Hamilton County Conservation director Brian Lammers said the application will be for $180,000 for future trail projects in the county.The Iowa DNR will review the grant application and come back whether or not to approve the grant in the next few months.
The conservation board reviewed its budget for operations at its park and recreation facilities. The numbers will be submitted to the Hamilton County Supervisors for review and approval. The county budget hearing is set for sometime in March.
2024 was a good year for the Hamilton County Conservation Department.. Conservation park ranger Zane Schaffer reported that there were improvements made to both Little Wall Lake and Bells Mill Parks. The parks will reopen for camping in the spring.
