Webster City basketball swept in home NCC doubleheader with St. Edmond

The Webster City Lynx basketball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Gaels of St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx girls entered at 2-10, while the Lynx boys entered at 3-8.

Webster City’s girls looked to extend their winning streak to 3 games, but St. Edmond had other plans with a tight contest at halftime, with the Gaels leading 17-15. St. Edmond would then open the lead up with a big 3rd quarter, leading 37-26 after the 3rd quarter. The Lynx would then mount a comeback effort in the 4th, but would fall just short in a 48-44 loss.

Freshman Evie Davis led Webster City with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Marissa Hedeen had 9 points. Chloe Palmer led St. Edmond with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Webster City boys would try to get back on the winning track against the 9th-ranked team in 1A, but St. Edmond would use a big 2nd half to come away with a 68-47 win.

Matt Tesdahl led Webster City with 17 points and 4 assits, while Carter Mickelson had 11 points. Hunter Horn led St. Edmond with 28 points on the night.

Webster City basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, when they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School at 6:15 PM on 1570 AM KZWC and streaming online at kqradio.com.
