The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton’s girls entered at 5-7, while the boys entered at 0-12.
Nevada’s girls came out of the gates swinging, leading the Hawks 11-0 after the first and 31-6 at halftime. Nevada would continue the defensive intensity into the 2nd half to claim a 55-13 win.
Tessa Skartvedt led South Hamilton with 6 points and 10 rebounds, as Nevada’s stats were not available on Bound as of Monday morning.
South Hamilton’s boys followed looking for their first win of the season, but the high-powered Nevada boys jumped out to a 24-4 lead after the first quarter, extending that lead to 54-4 at halftime. Nevada kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd half for an 82-25 win.
Grant Larson led South Hamilton with 10 points and 3 assists, while Easton Gray led Nevada with 15 points.
South Hamilton basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, when they host Saydel in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School at 6 PM.
