Ames Police were dispatched to an apartment on South Fifth Street in Ames shortly after 6:30 on Saturday evening,January 18th to investigate a shooting inside an apartment. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering a gunshot wound. The man was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. After a preliminary investigation it is believed there is no ongoing threat to the public, however, it is a still a very active investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
