The Wilson Brewer Park Foundation Board reported $6,962 was raised during the year-end fundraising appeal. Chairman Doug Bailey informed the board that some of the donors requested that their gifts be directed to specific projects and others going to the general fund. The most immediate projects at the park include the restoring and upgrading the depot museum and its collections. There will be carpentry work, repainting and for future plans on replacing the platforms that once surrounded the depot. The platforms would be used as a deck for viewing and relaxing while touring the museum. It would also be making the museum more accessible to those with disabilities in association with the Americans with Disabilites Act. The park’s opening capital has been established with donations of $50,000 from the city of Webster City and Hamilton County. The donations is for a five year term to help the museum complex on a financial scale. After the five year period, all funds will be self-sustaining. Grants for the museum are being secured. One of them is a $5000 grant from Liqui-Care to help modernize the restrooms at the depot museum. There was a grant request to the Enhance Hamilton County for $18,000. There are plans to secure a grant from Black Hills Energy in the coming months.
