The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to southern Webster County to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action at Southeast Valley High School in Gowrie. Webster City girls entered at 1-10, while Webster City’s boys entered at 3-7.
Webster City’s girls looked to build off their first win of the year on Monday night against Nevada, and jumped all over the Jaguars, leading 23-5 after the first quarter and 37-11 at halftime. The Lynx kept the pressure on in the 2nd half for a 61-21 win.
Marissa Hedeen would lead Webster City with 15 points on the night, while Evie Davis added 9 points and Izzy Grossoehme had 8 points.
The boys game followed with Webster City trying to bounce back from their close loss to Nevada on Monday, but Southeast Valley would take a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. Webster City would respond by holding a 32-31 lead at halftime, but Southeast Valley used defense to create offense in the 2nd half to pull away for a 63-52 win.
Cole Miller would lead Webster City with 16 points with 4 three-pointer, while Connor Peck finished with 15 points.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Friday, when they host St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at 6:15 PM at Webster City High School.
