Eagle Grove wrestling goes 2-1 in quad dual at Saint Ansgar

The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the drive into far northern Iowa to compete in a Top of Iowa Conference quad dual at Saint Ansgar High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Saints, as well as Newman Catholic and North Butler-Clarksville.

Eagle Grove would defeat the hosts in Saint Ansgar by a score of 41-36, as the Eagles won 2 of the 5 bouts wrestled. Hayden Schafer would tech fall Jevin Dammen at 157, while Carter Bjorklund wound pin Zach Schell at 165. Ethan Schreiber (106), Andrew Orozco (113), Dylan Terwilliger (120), Jayden Kreitlow (190) and Jesus Baez (285) would win by forfeit.

The Eagles would defeat Newman Catholic by a score of 42-36, winning 4 of the 6 bouts wrestled with pinfall wins from Hayden Schafer (157), Jesus Baez (285), Ethan Schreiber (106) and Dylan Terwilliger (120). Hunter Waldo-Martinez (126), Jayden Kreitlow (175) and Andrew Orozoco (113) would win by forfeit.

North Butler-Clarksville would be the Eagles lone loss on Tuesday, falling by a score of 42-29. The Eagles would pick up pinfall wins from Hunter Waldo-Martinez (126), Hayden Schafer (157) and Jesus Baez (285), while Jayden Kreitlow (190) won by tech fall and Andrew Orozoco (113) won by forfeit.

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Lake Mills to compete in another Top of Iowa Conference quad dual at Lake Mills High School, beginning at 6 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
