The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys basketball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the West Fork Warhawks in non-conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. CGD entered Monday night with a record of 3-7, while West Fork entered with a record of 3-6.
For the first quarter and a half, the Cowboys dominated the Warhawks, leading by as much as 14 in the first half. However, West Fork cut the lead to 33-27 at halftime behind three-point shooting. The hot shooting continued into the 2nd half, as the Warhawks exploded for 27 points in the 3rd quarter and led 54-45. The Cowboys would respond in the 4th, with a chance to tie the game late, but were unable to convert as West Fork used free throws to close out a 61-55 win.
The KQWC Player of the Game was CGD sophomore Chaz Lane, who finished with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Huxley Lingenfelter finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Zander Hansen had 16 points off the bench for West Fork.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they host Pocahontas Area at CGD High School at 7:15 PM.
