Clarion-Goldfield-Dows holds off Webster City on Friday, downs Estherville on Saturday

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Webster City Lynx boys basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they faced off with one another in North Central Conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School in Clarion.

Friday’s first quarter would be neck-and-neck, with the score tied at 11 before the Cowboys offense came to life in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-23 halftime lead. CGD would push the lead to double digits at 49-38, before Webster City stormed back in the 4th but would come up just short in a 57-56 win for the Cowboys.

Huxley Lingenfelter finished with a team-high 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Chaz Lane had 14 points and 9 rebounds. Cole Miller had a game-high 18 points for Webster City, while Luke Firsching had 12 points.

CGD would turn around and take on Estherville-Lincoln Central on Saturday afternoon in northwest Iowa, as the Cowboys held the lead from the first quarter on in a 51-47 win over the Midgets. Chaz Lane led the Cowboys with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while JD Morrical added 12 points.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Monday, when they host West Fork in non-conference action at 7:15 PM. Webster City basketball returns to action on Monday, when they host Nevada in non-conference action at 6:15 PM.
