The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City’s girls entered at 0-9, while the Webster City boys entered at 3-4.
It would be a slow start to the game for both offenses, as Clear Lake only led 12-6 after the 1st quarter, before the Lions defense helped extend the lead to 23-9 at halftime. Webster City’s offense would pick up in the 2nd half, but the Clear Lake offense would as well as the Lions came away with a 54-31 win.
Webster City stats were not available as of Wednesday morning, Jacelyn Ainley led Clear Lake with 14 points on the night.
The boys game followed as the Lynx faced a daunting task with 2nd-ranked Clear Lake, and the Lions flexed their muscles in the 1st half, taking a 37-11 lead at halftime. Webster City’s offense would find rhythm in the 2nd half, but the margin was too great as Clear Lake cruised to a 64-37 win.
Webster City stats were not available as of Wednesday morning, as Thomas Meyer led Clear Lake with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Friday, when the boys travel to Clarion to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Lynx girls basketball returns on Monday night, when they host Nevada in non-conference action.
