The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip into far northern Iowa to take on the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines in non-conference action at West Bend-Mallard High School in West Bend. Eagle Grove’s girls entered at 1-6, while the Eagle boys entered at 3-4.
Eagle Grove’s girls would have a tough test against the undefeated Wolverines, who led 18-8 after the first quarter, extending that lead to 34-13 at halftime. West Bend-Mallard would keep their foot on the gas in the 2nd half for a 61-18 win.
Taytum Edwards would lead Eagle Grove with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals on Monday, while Myka Anderson added 6 points. Hannah Stalzer had a game-high 22 points for the Wolverines.
The boys game followed as Eagle Grove jumped all over the Wolverines early with a 24-point first quarter, en route to a 42-21 halftime lead. The Eagle offense would ease off the gas in the 2nd half, en route to a 69-41 win.
