The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into Hancock County to take on the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in Top of Iowa West action at GHV High School. The Eagle girls entered at 1-3, while the Eagle boys entered at 2-2.
GHV’s girls sprinted out of the gate, outscoring the Eagles 24-7 in the first quarter, pushing the lead out to 49-18 at halftime. The Cardinals would keep their foot on the gas en route to a 73-31 win over Eagle Grove.
The Cardinals were led by junior Bella Schisel with 24 points, as Eagle Grove stats were not available as of Tuesday morning.
Eagle Grove’s boys followed as they tried to bounce back from their loss to Belmond-Klemme on Thursday night. Eagle Grove’s offense got off to a hot start as they led 19-12 after the first quarter, as the Eagles pushed the lead as much to 26-13 before GHV stormed back to tie the game at 30-30 at halftime. The Eagles would find a way to battle in the 2nd half and not relinquish the lead in a 55-47 win.
Jaxon Morris had a game-high 19 points, along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists for Eagle Grove, while Josh Miller had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lane Gayken led GHV with 16 points.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, when they host Lake Mills for Coaches vs. Cancer Night in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
