The Webster City Lynx basketball team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip east into Franklin County to take on the Bulldogs of Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School. Webster City’s girls entered at 0-5, while the Webster City boys entered at 1-2.
Webster City’s girls entered with a tall-task against the #15 team in Class 3A, as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-5 lead, which they would extend to 32-15 at halftime. The Lynx offense tried to get going in the 2nd half, but the Bulldogs defense would be too much in a 58-28 win.
Olivia Gallentine led the Lynx with 7 points and 13 rebounds, while Lily Hambly had a game-high 25 points and 7 rebounds for Hampton-Dumont-CAL.
The Webster City boys would look to bounce back from their road loss to North Polk and after an even 1st quarter, the Lynx opened up a 20-14 lead going into halftime. In the 2nd half, Webster City’s defense would shutdown Hampton-Dumont-CAL on all fronts, allowing just 3 points in the 2nd half as Webster City cruised to a 50-17 win.
Cole Miller led the Lynx with a game-high 16 points, as Carter Mickleson had 11 points. Matthew Tesdahl would stuff the stat sheet with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Brady Harr had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Iowa Falls to take on Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at 6:15 PM.
