Webster City and Eagle Grove girls wrestling compete in Lady Eagle Invite

The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles girls wrestling teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as Eagle Grove hosted their annual Lady Eagle Invitational at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by AGWSR, Baxter, Emmetsburg, G-T/R-A, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Lake Mills, Nevada, Pocahontas Area, Spirit Lake, West Central Valley, West Fork and West Marshall.

One area wrestler captured a tournament crown in Eagle Grove’s Catherine Orozco, who won at 100 lbs with pinfall wins over Amielia Lindsey (Webster City) and Letty Jenson (Humboldt) with a medical forfeit win sandwiched in between. Jaymie Anderson would place 2nd at 120 lbs, pinning West Marshall’s Ava Shibe and GTRA’s Myla Fisher before being pinned by Lake Mills’s Anna Stene. Other placers for the Eagles saw Baylee Steig place 5th at 145 and Evelyn Jergenson place 6th at 115.

Webster City would see a pair of third place finishers on Tuesday, as Amielia Lindsey placed 3rd at 100 lbs, with her lone a win coming by medical forfeit. Marlee Thompson was the other 3rd place finisher at 115, winning her 3rd place match by pinning Humboldt’s Gracey May. Other placers for the Lynx saw Cloe Savitski place 4th at 105, Kali Hartnett place 5th at 110 and Liberty Gamble place 5th at 235.

Eagle Grove would place 7th with 79 points, while Webster City was 10th with 58 points. Lake Mills was the team champion with 181 points and Humboldt was 2nd with 169 points.

Webster City girls wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the Algona Girls Tournament at Algona High School. Eagle Grove girls wrestling returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Maquoketa to compete in the Zimmerman Invitational at Maquoketa High School.
