Webster City wrestling competes in Andy Davidson DCG Mustang Invite

The Webster City Lynx wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip to the Des Moines Metro to compete in the Andy Davidson DCG Mustang Invite at Dallas Center-Grimes High School in Grimes. The Lynx were joined by the host Mustangs, as well as ADM, Carroll, Creston, Council Bluffs Lincoln, Des Moines East, Johnston, Lewis Central, Nevada, Van Meter and Urbandale.

Webster City would not see a champion on Saturday, but their top placer was Carson Bertran, who placed 3rd at 175 lbs, pinning Lewis Central’s Chance Chappell in the 3rd Place Match. Tristan Mason would place 5th at 150 lbs, winning a 1-0 decision over Urbandale’s Jake Dunn in the 5th Place Match.

Cael Alexander and Gavin Wynkoop would place 6th at 285 and 132, as Carson Burtnett, Dawson Bertran, Eli Estlund and Cody Elliott would place 7th at 126, 138, 190 and 215, respectively. Brayden Burtnett and Ridge Berninghaus would place 8th at 120 and 144 as well.

Webster City would place 8th as a team with 86 points, as Johnston won the meet with 263.5 points. Webster City wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Clarion to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Hampton-Dumont-CAL in a North Central Conference tri-dual, beginning at 6 PM.
