The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling teams returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the trip into Story County to compete in the annual Gilbert Tiger Duals at Gilbert High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Iowa Falls, Johnston JV, Southeast Polk JV and Southeast Valley.
Eagle Grove would lose to Iowa Falls in its first dual by a score of 47-33. The Eagles would pick up wins by pinfall from Cooper Thacker (138), Hayden Schafer (157) and Jesus Baez (285). Jayden Kreitlow (175) would win by a 16-0 tech fall, Dylan Terwilliger would win by a 13-4 major decision, while Andrew Orozco won by forfeit.
The Eagles would then defeat Southeast Polk’s JV 48-32, with wins by pinfall from Dylan Terwilliger (120), Hayden Schafer (157), Jayden Kreitlow (175), Reece Demuth (190) and Jesus Baez (285). Hunter Waldo-Martinez (132), Carter Bjorklund (165) and Ethan Schreiber (106) would win by forfeit.
Southeast Valley was the next foe up for the Eagles, and they would handily defeat the Jaguars by a score of 48-15. Eagle Grove picked up pinfall wins from Hunter Waldo-Martinez (132), Jackson Babcock (138), Hayden Schafer (157) and Reece Demuth (215), while picking up forfeit wins from Jayden Kreitlow (175), Jesus Baez (285), Ethan Schreiber (106) and Andrew Orozco (113).
Eagle Grove would then defeat the hosts in Gilbert in their 4th match by a score of 52-30, with pinfall wins from Hunter Waldo-Martinez (132), Hayden Schafer (157), Jayden Kreitlow (175), Reece Demuth (190), Jesus Baez (285) and Andrew Orozco (113). The Eagles also picked up a 17-5 major decision from Jackson Babcock (138) and wins by forfeit from Ethan Schreiber (106) and Dylan Terwilliger (120).
Eagle Grove ended the day with a close loss to the Johnston JV by a score of 39-37. The Eagles picked up pinfall wins from Hunter Waldo-Martinez (132), Jackson Babcock (138), Andrew Orozco (113) and Dylan Terwilliger (120). Hayden Schafer (157) won a 10-1 major decision, Jayden Kreitlow (175) won a 12-7 decision, while Ethan Schreiber (106) won by forfeit.
Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Sheffield to take on West Fork, Nashua-Plainfield and Northwood-Kensett in a quad dual at West Fork High School at 6 PM.
