The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip to Hancock County to take on the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action at West Hancock High School in Britt. Eagle Grove’s girls entered at 1-2, while the boys entered at 1-1.
West Hancock would play lights out on both end of the floor in the first half, holding Eagle Grove to 1 point in the 1st quarter, en route to a 34-9 halftime lead. The Eagles got the offense going the 3rd quarter, but West Hancock kept the pace on offense for a 62-28 win.
Stats were not available for either team on Bound as of Monday morning.
The boys game followed as Eagle Grove looked to rebound from their loss to Forest City on Tuesday, and did so in a confident manner. The Eagles jumped out to a 16-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, and grew the lead to 32-18 at halftime. West Hancock would keep pace offensively in the 2nd half, but the Eagles big first half would be enough in a 67-51 win.
Abraham Lin recorded a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds with 5 assists, while Adrian Whipple had a game-high 19 points with 3 assists, as Jaxon Morris added 16 points. Coen Witte led West Hancock with 14 points on the night.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Belmond-Klemme in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School at 6 PM.
