It’s time to carry the banner in the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsie and leader of a band of young newspaper sellers in Manhattan. When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsies’ expense, Jack rallies young workers from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!
Leading the Newsies are Adriana Annis as Jack and Hallee Anderson as sidekick Krutchie. The newsies go up against publishers Joseph Pulitzer (Stella Meyer) and his employees portrayed by Delaney Lyons, Greyson, Lilly Knudson, and Vivien Kastler. Pulitzer’s daughter Katherine (Ash Tinoco) however sides with Jack and his friends.
The cast of newsies includes Max Anderson, Ruby Meyer, Addison Fortune, Baylee Humlicek, Collins Chizek, Elaina Brinkman, Elizabeth VanDemark, Kallista Gilbert, Lauren Ehn, Leena Humlicek, Paxton Allen, Piper Williams, Sloan Williams, Violet Meyer, and Grace Foltz.
The newsies are held in check by Wiesel (Mickey Van Demark) and the Delanceys (Clara Ose and Brooklyn Van Demark) as well as the police chief (Max Bailey) and Snyder (Florencia Bailey) the warden at The Refuge.
Those who assist the newsies are their friends at the theater, Medda (Joely Gilbert) and her dancers (Carlie Robertson, Hadlee Johnson, and Kyra Watts). The notable Governor of New York Teddy Roosevelt (Aiden Haman) is their biggest supporter.
Adapted especially for young performers, these musical features a Tony Award®-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein, and includes rousing songs like “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “King of New York.” Newsies JR. is packed with nonstop thrills and a timeless message perfect for the whole family and every audience.
